Leeds fans have been expressing their delight on Twitter after hearing the news that the club confirmed on their official website that Jack Clarke has signed his first professional contract with the Whites.

Clarke is one of the bright prospects currently featuring regularly for Leeds’ youth sides, and has caught the eye on a number of occasions with a string of fine performances at Thorp Arch.

And he has been rewarded for his progress, with the club confirming on their official website that he has celebrated his 17th birthday by signing a deal that is set to keep him at Leeds until 2021 – though the report hints that there may be scope to extend that deal further.

Unsurprisingly, the news has been met with an overwhelmingly positive response. Given the calibre of youngster to come through the ranks at Leeds in recent years, it is arguably a massive statement when the club feels that another prospect coming through deserves such a lengthy deal.

Many of the supporters have expressed their excitement that Clarke will soon be showing what he can do for the first-team – which may perhaps not be out of the question given that he has not looked out of place for the under-23s this season.

And there have been even been some light-hearted suggestions that Thomas Christiansen should not wait much longer to give him a chance.
