Leeds fans have been reacting on Twitter to the surprise news coming out of The Sun recently that Andrea Radrizzani plans to hand Garry Monk a new long-term deal at Elland Road once he completes the full takeover of the club.
The Sun reports that Radrizzani is in the process of buying Massimo Cellino’s shares in the Championship side, and plans to mark the full takeover by attempting to persuade Monk to be the man to spearhead a promotion push with the Whites.
According to The Sun, the Italian is ready to offer Monk a new five-year deal and give him the assurances that he is supposedly looking for before extending his stay beyond this season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, many Leeds fans have been reacting to the news on social media with plenty of cautious cynicism due to how long the reported contract actually is.

The Whites had eight different managers in the five years before Monk arrived last summer, and while the former Swansea boss has done a wonderful job, the unpredictability of modern football means that it would be an enormous and scarcely-believable commitment on Radrizzani’s part.
But with Monk taking Leeds to within touching distance of the play-off places this season – arguably the only real criticism of the current manager was his inability to lead the side across the line – a large majority of supporters have also been left extremely excited about the prospect of a long-term deal – no matter what the actual duration – as they feel that the 38-year-old is the man to lead the club back to the promised land.

Here is the best of the reaction…
