David Nugent was reportedly on Leeds United’s radar, but has now joined their Championship rivals Derby County.
Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the news that David Nugent has moved from Middlesbrough to Derby County (via club’s official website).
The Yorkshire Evening Post reported in November that Garry Monk wanted to bring a new striker in, and it appeared that he may have earmarked one potential target.

A report in The Sun last month suggested that the Whites wanted to sign the 31-year-old on loan during the January window, and Nugent himself had told friends that he wanted to make the switch to Elland Road.
However, it has now been confirmed that the one-time England international has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Rams for an undisclosed fee (via club’s official website), that BBC Sport believes to be around £2.5 million.

Following the news that Nugent has moved elsewhere, Leeds supporters have taken to Twitter to discuss the move. And while some are disappointed about missing out on the former Leicester man, and others have noticed that Nugent – who has scored several goals against United – could make his debut against the Whites this Friday, some appear to be pleased that the striker has not been signed.
The main reasons for Leeds fans’ relief appears to be centred around the fee that Derby have reportedly paid for a player who has barely featured this season and may not have too many years left at the higher levels.
