Could Tom Pearce prove to be the next player to leave Leeds United this summer with one of their Champonship rivals pursuing a move?

A number of Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to react to the reports from the Yorkshire Evening Post this week which suggested that Barnsley want to sign Tom Pearce on a permanent basis this summer.

Pearce’s future has looked to lie away from Elland Road for some time. Marcelo Bielsa rarely used the left-back during the opening months of his tenure and he spent the second-half of last season on loan at Scunthorpe United in League One.

And now it appears that one of Leeds’ Championship rivals may be keen to take him from Elland Road, with the Yorkshire Evening Post reporting that the Tykes want the 21-year-old. He would become the third player to leave Leeds for Barnsley this summer, with Mallik Wilks and Aapo Halme also jumping ship.

The news has, perhaps surprisingly, attracted a mixed reaction amongst the fans on social media. There are plenty who have admitted that they would be incredibly disappointed to see Pearce leave.

While Bielsa did not appear to be overly keen to use the England under-21 international, he had previously impressed when given a run in the first-team by Paul Heckingbottom.

However, the majority of the fans on social media think it would be the right decision to let Pearce go. He arguably has as many as four players ahead of him in the pecking order, and it is difficult to see the youngster forcing his way back into the picture while Bielsa is at Elland Road.
