Goals from new signings Dalby, who joined the club from Leyton Orient and fellow newbie Pascal Struijk who joined from Dutch giants Ajax earned Leeds a point, as they came from two behind to draw 2-2.
In what was a largely new-look side, captain Paudie O’Connor was joined by the likes of Kamil Miazek, Oliver Sarkic and Hugo Diaz as well as more recognisable names such as Romario Vieira, Tyler Denton and Tom Pearce.
New signings Jack Stevens from Forest Green Rovers was not in the squad after a deal was completed on deadline day for his signature, while Ty Roberts is expected to join up with the first team.
Leeds fans reacted to the 2-2 draw by asking why the club failed to win despite completing a number of Under-23 signings instead of spending more money on the first team.
One fan even described it as a “waste of money”, as Carlos Corberan’s side remain in seventh out of 12 sides in the Under-23 Professional Development League.
