Leeds United are trying to become more of a threat from corners, says Marcelo Bielsa.

Marcelo Bielsa has revealed one plan in trying to solve Leeds United’s goalscoring problem.

Bielsa’s side sit second in the Championship but that’s a reflection of their defensive record, with the Whites only conceding seven times this season – the best in the division.

It’s a different story for Leeds at other end, however. From 12 Championship games, United have only managed 16 goals – the same amount as 19th-placed Hull City.

The Elland Road side haven’t scored more than two goals in a game since the 3-0 win at Stoke City on August 24 and with Patrick Bamford and Eddie Nketiah struggling for goals, it’s a worry for Bielsa.

Speaking to The Yorkshire Evening Post ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Preston, the Argentine revealed that he is trying to make Leeds more of an aerial threat from corners and set pieces.

He said: “If you achieve to score and to avoid the opponent scoring, this factor is very important. You have seen in some moments last season that we had some difficulty resolving problems in aerial situations and a little but less this year and for our team that doesn’t have the ideal efficiency to score, to score at set pieces is something very important.”

Problem is, Bielsa doesn’t boast a lot of physically-imposing players. Captain Liam Cooper, at 6’2, is their tallest centre-back.

And Leeds fans were quick to point out the fact that they’re lacking tall players on Twitter after Bielsa’s quotes came to light.
