Marcelo Bielsa does not believe that Leeds United suffer because he names his team days before a game.
A number of Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Marcelo Bielsa’s suggestion – in comments reported by Leeds Live – that the opposition does not benefit from the Whites boss publicly naming his team in the days before a game.
While most managers tend to keep their cards close to their chests until the teamsheets are announced an hour before kick-off, Bielsa has made a habit of naming his lineup in his pre-match press conferences in recent weeks.
Leeds are currently enduring their worst run of the season, having lost five of their last seven games in all competitions. But Bielsa was adamant that his squad reveals have little impact on the result as he was asked whether they hand an opponent an advantage.
“For me it’s not important all,” he simply said, as reported by Leeds Live.
There have not been too many occasions during his tenure when the Leeds supporters have felt that they have had reason to question Bielsa’s methods.
But, while there are some who believe that he is right with his response, there seems to be plenty of fans who would rather he kept his plans under wraps, and do feel that it may be harming the team’s fortunes.
One fan made the point on Twitter that they believe that Leeds have the potential to beat anyone in the division even if they have given the lineup away, but it cannot be helping the side pull themselves out of their current rut.
