Kun Temenuzhkov has posted on Twitter after helping Leeds United’s Under-23 side go top of the Professional Development League with a 2-0 win over Crewe Alexandra – and fans have reacted by considering a first-team chance.

The 18-year-old, who made his debut as an 11-minute substitute against QPR in the 2-1 FA Cup loss earlier this month, started for Carlos Corberan’s second string on Monday afternoon at Thorp Arch.

Chelsea loanee Izzy Brown scored both goals as the Whites’ reserve side continue to look good for promotion. Though Kun did not get his name on the score sheet, he was more than involved throughout and held the ball up well.

The Bulgaria youth international posted on Twitter after the match, expressing his delight at seeing the Whites at the top of the table. They join the senior side, and the Under-18’s, in topping their divisions.

The former Barcelona youth player has scored plenty of goals at Under-23 level despite being younger than many of his teammates, but remains well down the pecking order in terms of first-team opportunities.

Kemar Roofe remains the club’s best striker, scoring 14 goals in 21 league games. Summer signing Patrick Bamford is set to return from injury, and is the club’s second choice while Tyler Roberts acts as cover in a number of positions.

Leeds fans reacted to Kun’s Tweet, with some suggesting that Marcelo Bielsa should give the young striker a chance in the first team during the second half of the season as Leeds remain top and four points clear.
