Leeds United goalkeeper Kamil Miazek has extended his stay at Elland Road by one more year until the summer of 2019 after his previous deal ran out this summer – but Leeds fans reacted with frustration.
The 21-year-old goalkeeper’s contract was set to expire this summer, but a day after new manager Marcelo Bielsa first took to office at Elland Road, Leeds have handed the Pole a new deal.

His long-term future at the club remains a doubt despite the deal, with the new contract only tying him down until next summer but it gives the one-time Poland Under-19 international a chance to show his worth.
Starting off at Polish side Belchatow, Miazek made the bold move to join Dutch giants Feyenoord but failed to make a single senior appearance. He moved back to Poland with Chojniczanka, but was released in July 2017.
Leeds brought him to the club in October and has remained a regular fixture of Carlos Corberan’s Under-23 side, though he remains behind Andy Lonergan and Bailey Peacock-Farrell in the goalkeeper pecking order.
Despite Miazek’s new deal, only a handful of fans congratulated the Pole, while many others reacted to the news by expressing their frustration at the club’s inability to make a signing this summer – despite plenty of links.
Leeds are said to be after a goalkeeper, as well as a centre-back and a striker and that has seen the likes of Kyle Bartley, Angus Gunn and Matej Vydra all linked with a move to Yorkshire.
