Leeds smashed Burnley’s second string 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon.
Leeds United’s reserve side earned a superb 6-3 win over Burnley on Tuesday afternoon in the Professional Development League – and fans were thoroughly impressed with the performance of Izzy Brown.
Carlos Corberan named a very strong starting eleven that included plenty of players with first-team experience, including Will Huffer, Conor Shaughnessy, Lewis Baker, Jack Harrison and Patrick Bamford. Jack Clarke and Aapo Halme came on at half-time.
Brown, 21, is yet to make his senior debut for Leeds, as he continues to work his way back to full fitness. He signed for Leeds in the summer from Chelsea on loan, with the Whites fully understanding that the playmaker was injured.
Indeed, the former Huddersfield Town and Brighton loanee is now putting the final touches on his recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament injury – and he continued that on Tuesday afternoon.
Leeds earned a big win in a topsy-turvy clash against Burnley, who had England international Tom Heaton in goal. Bamford got a hat-trick, while Baker, Clarke and indeed Brown got their names on the score sheet.
Brown scored after excellent footwork from Clarke allowed left-back Clarke Odour to get forward and find a pinpoint cross that landed perfectly for Brown, who slotted the ball past Heaton.
Leeds fans reacted to Brown’s performance, which saw the versatile attacker play 90 minutes against the Clarets. Many were stunned at just how good he was, as he created much of Leeds’ attacking football.
