Leeds United are reportedly in talks with promotion hopefuls Hamburg over a potentially permanent move for Crysencio Summerville this month. Leeds fans have reacted to the news, some feeling it would be good for him.

Summerville, 20, has broken into the senior side this season and clocked up eight appearances under Marcelo Bielsa. The winger has also starred for the 23’s, having a hand in 17 goals during 24 games since he joined in 2020.

Costing Leeds £1.3million (Sun) in the summer of 2020, Summerville has shown himself to be a player with huge potential, goals, tricks and flair – but one that is also hot-headed, capable of throwing his toys out of the pram.

German newspaper Bild report that Summerville is frustrated he is not playing more than he has done under Bielsa. Indeed, he has entered the final 18 months of his contract and a move to Hamburg is on the cards.

Bild report that Hamburg and Leeds are in talks – with the second-tier German side looking for a signing ‘beyond the summer’. It suggests either a permanent deal, or a long-term loan – perhaps until the summer of 2023.

Summerville to Hamburg: Leeds fans have their say on Twitter

Summerville might feel frustrated but ultimately, there are better options in the senior side. Jack Harrison recently got a hat-trick against West Ham, while Raphinha is considered one of the best outside the top six.

Dan James has been playing up front, but he normally would challenge Raphinha and Harrison for a place in the side. So, Summerville’s chances of game time are small. Many think it makes sense for him to leave Leeds.

While other Leeds fans are worried that another player is leaving, without any replacements coming in.
