Northern Ireland drew 0-0 with the Republic of Ireland in a friendly on Thursday night.

Bailey Peacock-Farrell kept a clean sheet for Northern Ireland on Thursday night as the Leeds United goalkeeper earned his fifth cap in a 0-0 friendly draw against the Republic of Ireland – and Whites fans reacted on Twitter.

Peacock-Farrell, 22, has broken into Northern Ireland’s first team and is considered their number-one goalkeeper at the moment, after Marcelo Bielsa chose to make him first choice at Elland Road.

The former Middlesbrough youth player has played every single minute of Leeds’ Championship campaign this season, keeping six clean sheets in 17 appearances.

However, the stopper has come in for criticism of late, after conceding four goals in Leeds’ last outing against West Bromwich Albion. Peacock-Farrell was certainly at fault for one goal, if not more.

But his response to that criticism was to keep a clean sheet in a tightly-contested affair at the Aviva Stadium, though he had very little to do as Michael O’Neill’s side had the best chances.

Kilmarnock’s Jordan Jones and Oxford United’s Gavin Whyte both missed huge chances to earn a win away from home, with Middlesbrough goalkeeper Darren Randolph denying both players when put through on goal.

But Leeds fans reacted to Peacock-Farrell’s performance on Twitter, with many applauding him for his response after plenty of criticism following the West Brom defeat. Others, meanwhile, stated they would replace him next weekend.
