Leeds United claimed the Professional Development League title with a dramatic penalty shootout win.

Several Leeds fans are now tipping Pascal Struijk to be one of the next under-23 starlets to force their way into the first-team after the centre-back’s outstanding performance in their Professional Development League final win on Monday.
Carlos Corberan’s men ended their campaign with a trophy as they beat Birmingham City on penalties after a goalless 120 minutes at Elland Road. Kamil Miazek was the hero as he saved two spot-kicks.
One of the men who found the back of the net from 12 yards for Leeds was Struijk. The Dutchman produced a brilliant effort that arguably put some of the first-team stars to shame, as the Whites’ penalty struggles continued at the weekend.
Struijk impressed the supporters with his composure on the ball, and his pairing with Aapo Halme has left plenty of fans believing that Leeds may already have their future centre-back partnership in their ranks if they both continue to develop at their current rate.

Halme may be the one who has first-team experience under his belt at Leeds, but several supporters that Struijk’s time is coming after his display against the Blues.
The 19-year-old has developed considerably throughout the season, and the fans are now seriously excited about what the former Ajax man could achieve if he can build on the form that he has shown this term.
