Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to express their excitement after watching Lewie Coyle’s display in Fleetwood Town’s FA Cup third round tie that saw Uwe Rosler’s men earn a replay against Premier League opposition.

There may have been no Riyad Mahrez or Jamie Vardy, but Claude Puel picked a strong lineup for Leicester City’s trip to Highbury, with the likes of Adrien Silva, Demerai Gray and Islam Slimani all starting for the Foxes.

Nevertheless, it was the League One side who looked most likely to score the goal that would ensure that the two teams would not need to play out a replay – with Rosler’s men hitting the post in the dying minutes, while the visitors failed to put a single shot on target throughout the entire contest.

One of the reasons that Leicester were not able to put the third tier side under more pressure was the performance of Coyle, who was handed the daunting task of trying to keep Gray quiet and out of the game as much as possible.

And the Leeds-owned youngster did that job superbly, and that display, unsurprisingly, did not go unnoticed by the Elland Road faithful who had one eye on the game ahead of Thomas Christiansen’s men’s tie with Newport County on Sunday.

A number of supporters took to social media to express their delight at Coyle’s performance and their excitement for when he makes his return to Leeds at the end of the season when his loan spell comes to an end.
