Leeds United came extremely close to signing Daniel James in January, and some believe that the Whites have blown their chance of landing the winger.

A number of Leeds and Swansea supporters have taken to Twitter to comment on Daniel James’ performance during the Swans’ superb win on Tuesday night, with many Whites fans insisting that he must be on the club’s shopping list again this summer.
As reported by BBC Sport, the Wales international came agonisingly close to sealing a move to Elland Road in the January transfer window, but the Swans pulled the plug on a deal in the final moments before the deadline.
The Sun is now reporting that a number of Premier League sides are keen on landing James this summer, with Manchester City interested and plotting a £7 million bid for the 21-year-old. The report adds that Leeds are expected to go back in with another offer.
But it is becoming apparent to supporters that Marcelo Bielsa’s side will probably need to get promoted out of the Championship to have a chance of landing James’ signature. They do sit second in the table right now, but there are still seven games to go.

And after his latest performance for Graham Potter’s side, it appears that both Leeds and Swansea supporters doubt that the Whites will be the ones to win the race to sign the lightning-quick wide-man.
James was arguably the best player on the pitch during the 3-0 victory against Brentford. He used his breathtaking pace to play a key role in the opening goal as his run allowed Nathan Dyer to break the deadlock. He also scored the third with a smart finish in the second-half.

Several Leeds fans have lauded James’ performance, while it has been noted that it may prove costly not landing the starlet when they had a fantastic chance in January.
Meanwhile, plenty of Swansea supporters have suggested that they now expect Leeds to have no chance to sign James in the summer as he continues to maintain an outstanding level of form since missing out on the switch to Elland Road.
