Harris has blasted Leeds for their celebrations after equalising late on during Saturday’s heated clash.
Millwall manager Neil Harris has blasted Leeds United’s dugout for their celebrations after the Championship leaders finally equalised against at The Den on Saturday afternoon – and Leeds fans have reacted angrily to his comments on Twitter.
Jed Wallace’s goal for Millwall looked to be enough for the Lions, as they looked to hold onto a 1-0 win at The Den. But Leeds had other ideas, as Jack Harrison slammed home an effort from 20 yards into the bottom corner.
With the scoreline at 1-0, Millwall incensed Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa by holding onto the ball in the dugout in order to waste time. It saw Leeds aim their celebrations at Harris and his dugout when Manchester City loanee Harrison scored.
Despite stating that everything had been swept under the carpet immediately after the match, Harris then controversially decided to throw fuel on the fire by describing Leeds’ celebrations as a “disgrace to English football”.
The comments are interesting after Harris had told media just minutes after the full-time whistle that he and Bielsa had settled their differences – with the help of Bielsa’s translator. But he was then quoted again on Monday.
Leeds fans are fuming on Twitter after learning of Harris’ comments, with many questioning why the Millwall boss believes celebrating a last-minute goal is wrong, and indeed a “disgrace”.
