Leeds United fans are worried that they will lose striker Eddie Nketiah in January following Marcelo Bielsa’s recent comments about the Arsenal loanee and Patrick Bamford.

There have been calls for Nketiah to start ahead of Bamford, but after Leeds recorded a 1-1 draw with Preston on Tuesday night, those calls only became louder.

Bielsa then seemingly called for calm and made it clear that Leeds’ promotion bid is a process that lasts ‘nine-months’, as he stated that he won’t ‘take advantage’ of either Nketiah or Bamford if one of them is having ‘success’, as quoted by Leeds Live.

But Leeds fans think that by the time those nine months come along then someone like Nketiah could be gone by January because they don’t think starting Bamford is working.

Whilst the season is long and winded, Leeds fans will only have flashbacks from last season where they will be well aware that every small moment counts.

Whilst Leeds fans understand that it is a long nine-month period, they also feel that it has been far too long in the season that Bamford hasn’t been performing and a change is needed.

Marcelo Bielsa of Leeds United looks on prior to the Sky Bet Championship match between Preston North End and Leeds United at Deepdale on October 22, 2019 in Preston, England.

Bamford’s poor form and Nketiah’s constant knocking of the door isn’t seemingly doing the job in the Arsenal man starting as all eyes will be on the starting XI’s on Saturday.

Leeds will take on their former manager Garry Monk, who is now in charge of Sheffield Wednesday, who are sitting one point and one place behind their neighbours.

If Bielsa picks Bamford here and things don’t go well then the reaction from the supporters will not be pleasant, and it’ll only make Nketiah feel even more deflated.

Here is a selection of Leeds United supporters on Twitter reacting to Bielsa’s comments about it being a nine-month process.
