Former Leeds favourite remains a free agent.
Luciano Becchio celebrates
It’s that time of year again, the transfer window is closed, and Leeds United fans are discussing the prospect of the club re-signing Luciano Becchio.
Becchio remains a free agent, and Leeds United’s failure to sign a striker on deadline day to supplement their current options has sparked discussion on social media.
The forward himself certainly heard the calls for the club to re-sign him, sending a message last night to thank fans for their support.
Becchio, 32, is a free agent after he was released by Rotherham United in June after signing a short term contract, and made only two appearances.
The best spell of his career was at Leeds, where he scored more than 80 goals for the club, helping them gain promotion from League One.

He moved on to Norwich City in 2012 and his career has been on the slide since, struggling for form, playing time, and with injuries.
Neil Redfearn was keen to re-sign him for Leeds in early 2015, but was over ruled by Massimo Cellino who brought in Albanian forward Edgar Cani.
It is unlikely Leeds pursue Becchio right now, although as an option to come off the bench he could be useful in lifting the crowd.
Calls for Becchio to return may say more about where Leeds are right now, with supporters fearing promotion is a mere long shot, and simply wanting a reason to get excited about the club again, by seeing one of their former heroes back in the famous white shirt.
Here is a look at the discussion about Becchio…
Not all are convinced however…
