A number of Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to discuss Mallik Wilks’ situation heading into the January transfer window after the striker scored twice in Doncaster’s 4-0 win at the weekend.

Wilks’ current loan deal is expected to run until the start of next month. And his latest performance hints that he may be about to hit the kind of form that may leave Marcelo Bielsa with a decision to make regarding whether to send him out on loan again.

Heading into the game with Bristol Rovers on Saturday, Wilks had scored five goals in 25 appearances for Donny and had not found the back of the net in any of his previous nine games.

However, he reminded the fans of his quality against the Gas. He scored Doncaster’s second in the first-half as he reacted quickest to a shot bouncing back off the woodwork and headed the ball home, and his third came from a brilliant counter attack.

Wilks was played in but still had plenty of work to do as he raced against the defender to get to the ball first. The 19-year-old showcased his pace to get away and then his composure to slide the ball under the goalkeeper to make the score 4-0.

Leeds are obviously performing extremely well at the moment, so it would be a surprise if Bielsa decided to bring Wilks back into the fold rather than sanction another loan in January.

Most appear to feel that leaving him out on loan for the season would be more beneficial, but there are a couple of fans who are clearly impressed by Wilks’ form and feel that he could potentially make an impact for the Whites in the second-half of the season if he is kept upon his return to Elland Road.
