Leeds United fans have dug up a tweet from last year from Tottenham Hotspur interim boss Ryan Mason.

Mason, who was then in charge of Tottenham’s youth team, was simply watching Leeds and could not resist posting praise of Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Mason could be forgiven for thinking that his post would have little meaning this season.

However, he has suddenly been promoted to Tottenham’s temporary manager following Jose Mourinho’s dismissal.

And Mason was able to see just how impressive Leeds football is close up at the weekend.

Tottenham fell to a 3-1 defeat to the Whites at Elland Road, where Bielsa’s side looked very impressive once again.

And Leeds fans were quick to remind the 29-year-old boss of what he said about them last year.

Tottenham did cause Leeds some problems at times, but Bielsa’s side always looked like they could hurt the Lilywhites’ defence.

Leeds scored their goals through Stuart Dallas, Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo to seal the three points.

Tottenham’s chances of making the top four now look all but over, even after other sides around them also slipped up this weekend.
