McCalmont has put pen to paper with Leeds, after a string of excellent performances for the club’s Under-23 side.

Alfie McCalmont has signed a new deal with Leeds United that will see him remain at Elland Road until at least the summer of 2021 – and fans are delighted to see the midfielder pen new terms.
Northern Irish midfielder McCalmont, 18, has starred in Carlos Corberan’s side this season as the second string currently sit at the top of the Professional Development League.
A ball-playing midfielder, McCalmont is renowned for his ability to create from deep and dictate the tempo of play – something of which he has shown in the second string.
Leeds confirmed the news on their official Twitter account that McCalmont will remain with the club for the foreseeable future, as he continues to edge towards the first team at Elland Road.
McCalmont will be buoyed by the fact that plenty of youngsters have made the step up from Under-23’s to Bielsa’s first team, including the likes of Will Huffer, Aapo Halme, Jamie Shackleton, Clarke Odour, Jordan Stevens and Jack Clarke.
Leeds fans reacted to the news that McCalmont has signed a new two-and-a-half-year deal to remain at Elland Road, as Bielsa continues to place his faith in Thorp Arch’s products this season.
