Gaetano Berardi is Leeds United’s longest-serving player.

Leeds United fans on Twitter are debating whether Gaetano Berardi deserves to stay at Elland Road beyond this summer.
It promises to be a summer of change in West Yorkshire and Leeds made a huge statement of intent last week by hiring veteran coach Marcelo Bielsa as Paul Heckingbottom’s replacement.
There will also be a number of changes among the playing staff, with the Whites, who finished 13th in the Championship last season, getting the clear-out underway by preparing to offload Felix Wiedwald [Yorkshire Evening Post].
Questions were asked of Berardi toward the end of last season after the 29-year-old was issued a five-game ban after picking up a third red card of the season, all of which were rather avoidable.

The Swiss right-back, who joined Leeds in 2014, is United’s longest-serving player, and has become a fan favourite down the years due ot his passion and no-nonsense approach, but other supporters believe that it is time to go.
Nevertheless, the former Sampdoria man, who filled in at left-back for most of last season, has retained the support of other fans.
Earning just £8,000 per week [The Star], Leeds wouldn’t be saving a fortune by getting him off the payroll, but he is passionate, heavily experienced and a popular figure among United team-mates, so perhaps keeping him around for another season wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.
