Former Leeds midfielder David Hopkin has left his managerial post at Livingston.
Former Leeds United David Hopkin has left newly-promoted Scottish side Livingston after failing to agree a new contract at Almondvale, and Leeds fans have discussed the possibility of bringing him back to Elland Road.
Livingston confirmed on their official website that the 47-year-old manager has left the club, despite earning promotion back into the Scottish Premiership following a play-off with Dundee United and Partick Thistle.
Hopkin’s men were tasked with beating fellow Championship side Dundee United over two legs, which they did with a 4-3 win on aggregate, before facing Partick Thistle. They earned 3-1 aggregate win, booking their place in the top flight.
It has seen Hopkin produce back-to-back promotions with Livi, but has decided to reject a contract with the club amid interest. BBC Sport claim Shrewsbury Town and former club Bradford City are interested.
Leeds manager Paul Heckingbottom’s future is coming under intense scrutiny after struggling at the helm during his short spell in charge of the Whites, winning just four of his 16 matches.
Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to discuss replacing the former Barnsley boss with midfielder Hopkin, who played for Leeds for three years between 1997 and 2000 and clocked up 92 appearances for the Yorkshire giants.
