The former Middlesbrough boss, who was linked with a move to Leeds United prior to Thomas Christiansen’s appointment, is reportedly wanted by two Championship clubs.
Some Leeds United supporters have identified former Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka as the man they want to replace Thomas Christiansen.
Little more than six weeks after he led them to the top of the Championship, the Danish boss finds himself under mounting pressure at Elland Road.
Leeds have lost six of their last seven in the league and now sit 10th in the standings, causing those initial doubts about Christiansen – who had only ever managed in Cypriot football prior to his July appointment – to resurface.
And after Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Brentford, several Whites fans took to Twitter calling for Karanka – who was last week linked with the Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday posts – to come and save their season.
Karanka left Middlesbrough in March, having previously taken them into the Premier League as Championship runners-up.
The Basque boss, who resides in nearby Harrogate, was heavily linked with a move to Leeds before Christiansen’s appointment, having worked with director of football Victor Orta at the Riverside.
Ironically, Leeds face their old boss and Karanka’s successor at Middlesbrough, Garry Monk, in their first game following the break for internationals.
