Leeds United are hoping their move for Kyle Bartley is not wrecked by injuries.

Leeds United fans have reacted with a mixture of disappointment and humour to the news transfer target Kyle Bartley faces a spell on the sidelines.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported at the weekend that Leeds have initiated talks with Swansea City over a summer transfer for the defender, who starred on loan at Elland Road last season.

Late last week Bartley missed Swansea’s training sessions and it appears he is suffering a potentially serious knee problem.

Swansea manager Carlos Carvalhal admitted Bartley’s injury is worrying, commenting to Wales Online: “Kyle Bartley is more serious than the other two. He did a stretch in the ligaments and felt pain and I don’t know. We will see day by day.”

Bartley suffered a knee injury earlier in the season which kept him out of action for five months.

Leeds fans are still reeling from their big January signing Tyler Roberts suffering a season ending injury without playing a game and the last thing the club need is to sign another crock, despite Bartley’s fantastic form last season for the Whites.

Bartley’s injury might turn out to be minor, but if it’s not then it would scupper Leeds’ hopes of signing the defender could be over before they started.

Some fans believe the Whites should abandon their attempts to sign the defender and move on.

Others joked that he is better than their current options even with an injury.
