It has been a hugely disappointing season for Leeds United, and that is reflected in the reaction to the Player of the Year nominations announcement.

Several fans have been left baffled by Leeds’ decision to include both Kemar Roofe and Gjanni Alioski amongst the nominees for the Player of the Season award.
It has been a hugely disappointing season for the Whites. After an incredible start which saw Leeds initially talked about as potential title contenders and a side that would, at least, better their performance from last year when they finished seventh, the wheels have come off in dramatic fashion.

Two wins in 2018 have helped send the Whites hurtling down the table at an alarming rate and they now find themselves 15 points off the play-off places with just three games to go. And with the side losing to Aston Villa on Friday night, it was probably not the right time for the club to announce those up for the award.
In a commendable gesture from Leeds, young fan Toby Nye joins both Pablo Hernandez and Samuel Saiz on the shortlist. But it is the other two names on the list that have left supporters confused.

Roofe and Alioski will be able to look back on their numbers this term and feel relatively pleased. Roofe has scored 10 league goals, while Alioski has scored six goals and provided five assists in the Championship.
Nevertheless, they are arguably two of the players that have tended to go missing when Leeds are up against it and can go through long spells without making a significant contribution. And with Bailey Peacock-Farrell proving hugely impressive since coming into the first-team in March, a number of fans are stunned that the incredibly inconsistent attacking pair are in the running.
Here is the best of the reaction…
