The striker has left the Championship side for Southport on a temporary deal.

Leeds United supporters have been divided on Twitter after it was announced that academy prospect Frank Mulhern had left Elland Road to join Southport on loan (via Yorkshire Evening Post).
The 19-year-old has been in excellent form for the Whites’ under-23 side, having scored three times in five games, but is still awaiting the chance to make his first-team debut for the club.

And that wait for his first appearance looks set to go on a while longer as he will spend the next three months with the National League side (via Yorkshire Evening Post) as they look to recover from their hugely disappointing start to the season.
While Mulhern was yet to receive that first opportunity under Garry Monk, news of his temporary departure has received a mixed response from supporters.

Some fans feel that the chance to get some first-team football in a competitive league is much more beneficial to his development than continuing to play for the Peacocks’ youth team.
However, a contingent of supporters, sensing that Mulhern was closing in on forcing his way into Monk’s plans, have been left confused by the decision, and have questioned whether he should be looking to play at a higher level to give him the best chance of realising his potential.

But former academy welfare officer Lucy Ward has also taken to social media to wish the youngster well.
