Leeds United’s boss could reportedly ditch Kalvin Phillips in midfield this week, despite his heroics on Saturday.
Leeds United fans on Twitter are concerned that Marcelo Bielsa will take Kalvin Phillips out of midfield to facilitate the return of Adam Forshaw in Wednesday’s visit of Swansea City.
Forshaw missed Saturday’s trip to Middlesbrough with injury and Phillips was given a rare chance to play in his favoured defensive midfield role.
And the 23-year-old was the difference in the end, scoring an equaliser in the 11th minute of additional time to rescue an important point for Leeds.
Bielsa said in his pre-match press conference last Thursday that Forshaw would play ahead of Phillips in that role if he was fit [The Yorkshire Evening Post] and it remains to be seen if he is available for selection on Wednesday.
According to The Yorkshire Evening Post, the 63-year-old coach could potentially bring him back into defensive midfield this week if the Liverpudlian is fit, but many fans of the Elland Road club are totally against it.
Sometimes Bielsa can be a bit too cute for his own good, but surely keeping Phillips in midfield is the smart move.
Forshaw is a top player, but he is also an inconsistent one and the truth is that the Leeds boss might not be sending a great message if he brings him back straight away and plays him ahead of the man who saved United recently.
