Leeds fans have been left stunned by comments that Laurens De Bock has made to Belgian outlet Sporza where he suggested that the adjustment to life at Elland Road has gone well for him.

De Bock was signed during the January transfer window for a fee worth £1.5 million, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, in an attempt to solve Leeds’ issues on the left-hand side of defence.

However, it has been a miserable start to life for the full-back. Some encouraging early performances have been followed by a string of disappointing displays that have included a number of mistakes and it did not take long before Paul Heckingbottom dropped him from the team.

Nevertheless, De Bock suggested to Sporza that he was content with the start that he has made to his time with the Championship side.

“It’s more fighting football, there’s no real building-up. There’s a lot of playing with the long ball and there are a lot of solid players,” he said.

“It was not easy to come here in the winter because everyone was already attuned to each other but all in all the adjustment went smoothly.”

Unsurprisingly, the comments have been met with a lot of surprise amongst the Leeds supporters. They have been hugely underwhelmed by De Bock’s start to life with Leeds and are probably concerned that he has been encouraged by his early form.

And while it is certainly not too late for the 25-year-old to turn his situation around, the fact that he does not appear to be particularly disappointed by his form is probably a concern heading into the final part of the season.
