A Leeds United supporter got more than he bargained for after tweeting the Bournemouth centre-back Steve Cook on Sunday.

Cook made his 150th Premier League appearance as Bournemouth beat Manchester United 1-0 the previous day.

The 28-year-old tweeted the following message afterwards, sharing his achievement:

But Cook’s response was cutting.

The Leeds supporter can at least take solace in the fact his side are now second in the Championship after Saturday’s 2-0 win against Queens Park Rangers.

The Whites, who finished third last season, last appeared at Premier League level in 2004 and have since played League One football, where Bournemouth were among their opponents.

The Cherries dropped even further than that before their swift ascent through the divisions, overtaking Leeds on reaching the top flight in 2015.
