Leeds United play their final Championship game of the season tonight, and can then look forward to their Premier League return.

The Whites host Charlton Athletic in the final game of the campaign, having not only sealed promotion but also the Championship title.

Marcelo Bielsa and his side wave goodbye to the Championship tonight, and plans will quickly emerge for their transfer plans this summer.

One player who may be worried for his future is left back Barry Douglas, especially with Goal claiming that the Whites want Liverpool left back Yasser Larouci.

Two years ago, Douglas won promotion with Wolverhampton Wanderers. He was key to their campaign, racking up five goals and 14 assists.

Yet when Wolves won promotion, they axed Douglas. In came Jonny to play as Nuno’s left wing back, selling the Scot to Leeds for £3million.

Douglas didn’t manage any goals or assists this season, and only started six games in 2020, pointing towards a diminished role in the Premier League once again.

Now 30, Douglas will be fearing lightning striking twice. The rumours about Larouci suggest that Leeds are actively looking for another left back, which would push Douglas further down the pecking order.

Douglas has turned in some better performances of late after a difficult season, so he is at least giving Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta something to think about.

His ability going forward could be important in games need to win next season, whilst he does provide valuable experience to Bielsa’s side.

Yet with a Wolves exit in the back of his mind following their promotion in 2018, Douglas may well have some fears of the same thing happening again – especially with just one year left on his contract and those Larouci rumours rife.
