Leeds are reportedly in the running to sign Brentford playmaker Christian Eriksen on a free transfer this summer, a potentially shock move for a player Danny Rose once said is always “among the best” in Europe for assists.
Eriksen, 30, is out of contract next week at Brentford and is yet to make a decision on his future. The Dane has been linked with moves to Tottenham, Manchester United, and even remaining at Brentford this summer.
Now, CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs reports that Leeds are firmly in the race to land the ex-Spurs player. He was part of the golden era under Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham, alongside ex-Leeds left-back Rose.

Speaking about his Tottenham teammate back in 2019 after Eriksen blasted a long-range goal into the Brighton net to win 1-0 late on, Rose said the playmaker is always among the best in Europe in terms of assists.
“Christian, Sonny and other players have scored some late goals for us. They’ve all had to chip in with Harry Kane being injured. Christian with his assists… he’s always up there among the best in Europe, not just the league.”

What a signing Eriksen is going to be, for any Premier League side. The 115-time Denmark star has the quality to improve pretty much any Premier League team, on his day. So, for Leeds, he would be a huge coup.
It is widely reported that Eriksen would like to remain in London. It puts his current side Brentford, and his old side Tottenham, in pole position. But a move to a big club like Leeds will surely be tempting.
Manchester United, too – though, the question mark surrounds whether he would start every game. He certainly would at Leeds, as he would at Brentford and already has done. An intriguing saga that continues to roll on.
