You could forgive Leeds United fans if they had forgotten all about Eunan O’Kane.

The Republic of Ireland midfielder hasn’t kicked a ball for the Whites in close to a year.

O’Kane left Leeds to join Luton Town on a season-long loan in August, but his 2018-19 campaign was finished by September after suffering a fractured tibia and fibula.

He has been officially back at Thorp Arch but, with the distraction of trying to win promotion to the Premier League, he is very much a forgotten man in West Yorkshire.

It looks, however, like O’Kane might be on the comeback trail after posting a photo of his boots alongside the caption ‘7 and a half months later’.

Even if Leeds fail to win Premier League promotion through the playoffs, it’s still ever so unlikely that O’Kane will be a big player under Marcelo Bielsa next term.

He was denied a squad number by the Argentine coach last summer in a development which spoke volumes over how much Bielsa rated him.

The former Bournemouth midfielder is certainly not a bad player, but he was nowhere near Mateusz Klich, Kalvin Phillips and Adam Forshaw’s level and therefore probably won’t be salvaging his Elland Road career when he regains full fitness.

The 28-year-old has two more years to go on his United contract.
