West Ham United should make a move for Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson in the summer transfer window.
Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has suggested to Afton Bladet that there is interest in him and has expressed his desire to move to the Premier League.
Jansson has also suggested that he will decide his future after the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia this summer where he will represent Sweden (click here to read more).
The 27-year-old central defender’s comments should encourage West Ham United to make an offer – if not now, then at least after the World Cup.
The Sweden international centre-back seems to be open to leaving the Elland Road outfit this summer, and his performances for the Whites for the past two seasons suggest that he has the quality to step up to the Premier League.
A report in TEAMtalk in April credited West Ham with interested in Jansson when David Moyes was in charge of the London club, and the centre-back’s latest comments should encourage the Hammers to make a move for him this summer.
With James Collins leaving the London Stadium, manager Manuel Pellegrini should at least consider Jansson – who is claimed to likely command a transfer fee of around £12m according to TEAMtalk– as a potential replacement for the Welsh centre-back.
Jansson initially joined Leeds on loan from Italian side Torino in the summer of 2016 before making the move permanent in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Yorkshire Evening Post to be worth £3.5 million.
