Leeds United have a superb centre-back in their squad.

The old adage states that foreign players take time to settle at English clubs, but Leeds United loanee Pontus Jansson is doing his best to prove that claim can sometimes be anything but true.

The Swede arrived at Elland Road in the summer with the club desperate for defensive reinforcements. However Leeds fans would not have dared to dream he would settle so quickly and so well, becoming something of a club legend in no time at all.

While many players do, understandably, take time to settle in new surroundings, Jansson appears to have found his natural habitat in the Championship.

What is often seen as a negative – the physicality and intimidation of the English second tier – is exactly what Leeds’ latest fan favourite thrives on.

Jansson relishes battles, he never shirks away from the tough elements of the game and he puts his body in harm’s way time and again. He is the exception to the rule and Leeds fans love him for it.

Now the only question is: Can the rest of the squad follow Jansson’s lead and push for promotion after too long out of the limelight?
