The Whites loanee has hit the ground running at Elland Road after linking up with Marcelo Bielsa’s side on loan from Arsenal.

Leeds United loanee Eddie Nketiah has been described as a “bit of a gem” by the Whites ex-player David Prutton following the 20-year-old’s exploits for the Elland Road side so far (Sky Sports News).

The Arsenal academy graduate joined Leeds on loan on transfer deadline day and already has two goals for the Whites – one in each of the appearances he has made.

Nketiah opened his account for Marcelo Bielsa’s side in the Carabao Cup win over Salford City, tapping home from Helder Costa’s low cross to open the scoring.

He was an unused substitute against Wigan Athletic but came off the bench against Brentford to score what turned out to be the winner just four minutes after coming on.

Nketiah is very highly rated at the Emirates Stadium and former Leeds man Prutton believes that the youngster can keep making the same kind of impact he made on Wednesday night, the Whites could have a good chance of promotion to the Premier League.

While talking about the Whites’ next Championship game, away at Stoke City, Prutton said: “Leeds, meanwhile, seem to have picked up a bit of a gem in Eddie Nketiah.

“If he can keep making the kind of impact he did against Brentford on Wednesday night then they will have a real shot at automatic promotion. They should have too much for Stoke.”

Nketiah joined Arsenal in 2015 and scored 15 goals in 16 appearances for the Gunners’ under-18s in his first season, as well as 12 goals in 26 appearances for their under-23s.

He then made his senior debut in September 2017 in their Europa League match against BATE Borisov, where he came on as an 89th-minute substitute as they won 4-2 (official Arsenal website).
