Leeds United could reportedly soon open talks to sign Serbian midfielder Sasa Lukic, who Jesse Marsch’s side have scouting throughout the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
According to CalcioMercato, the Torino midfielder is attracting interest ahead of the January transfer window, with Leeds one of the clubs primed and ready to move in for Lukic once the World Cup is finished. As of writing, Serbia are yet to qualify for the round of 16 ahead of their final group-stage clash against Switzerland.
Forza Roma have recently reported that Torino are open to selling Lukic in January for around €15m (£13m), a decent transfer fee given how much the midfielder has impressed out in Qatar and how many top sides are now interested in signing the Serbian maestro alongside Leeds.
As per CalcioMercato, Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma are also chasing Lukic. Yet it appears that the Premier League side are winning the race for the 26-year-old, with Leeds eager to soon open talks with Torino over signing the midfielder ahead of the January window.

A regular for Torino this season in Serie A, the Partizan Belgrade academy graduate has been in impressive form for the Turin-based side this campaign. And with Leeds looking ready to revamp their midfield which will be largely built around Tyler Adams and Marc Roca, Lukic would be a solid addition.
Indeed, the midfielder will add experience and depth to a position in Leeds’ squad in need of strength in numbers. And with the Whites now ready to enter into talks with Torino for Lukic, a deal could soon be agreed between the two clubs over the Serbian star.
Leeds and Marsch have to move fast in agreeing deal to sign Lukic

Leeds signing a midfielder in January is of the upmost importance for Marsch and his transfer team, and Lukic could be ideal given his showings at the World Cup and his performances for Torino. Yet the Whites must work fast if they’re to wrap up a deal for the 26-year-old.
As we know, Roma are also interested in Lukic. And whilst Leeds seem the favourites to sign the midfielder, there’s no telling how many twists this transfer saga could take before the Whites agree a deal to bring the Serbian to Elland Road.
