Leeds are reportedly tracking Quina, who is said to be available on the cheap at West Ham.
Leeds United’s reported pursuit of West Ham United youngster Domingos Quina could be about to get a whole lot easier after the Hammers were linked with a South American wing wizard.
The Daily Mirror claimed earlier this month that Leeds had contacted the Hammers over a possible move to sign the 18-year-old, who has less than 12 months remaining on his contract at the London Stadium.
Since the link to Leeds, it has been reported that the Portugal Under-19 international is available for a bargain £600,000 fee, according to Sky Sports.
Already available on the cheap and his contract nearing its end, Quina could be pushed even closer to the exit door and perhaps towards Elland Road and Leeds, with Manuel Pellegrini reportedly monitoring a new winger.
According to a report from ESPN’s live transfer blog (23/07; 14:30), West Ham are now interested in signing 24-year-old Argentine winger Martin Benitez – who has just a year left on his contract with Independiente.
Last season, fleet-footed Benitez showed just what he is capable of, scoring eight goals and laying on three assists in just 28 outings and he would certainly provide more than adequate back-up at West Ham.
Indeed, the Hammers have already signed Andriy Yarmolenko and Felipe Anderson, while the return of Robert Snodgrass comes almost in the form of a new signing after his loan with Aston Villa.
Having these three stars on side sees Quina’s chances of breaking into the first team almost impossible, and the signing of Benitez will certainly put an end to his chances.
West Ham will be much more keen to sell Quina if the Hammers do sign Benitez, and that will come as a boost to Leeds in their pursuit of the young star.
