Leeds could be about to recall ‘brilliant’ player – Our View

Cedric Soares is set to join Fulham on loan this month, and that may have repercussions at Leeds United.

Indeed, with Cedric set to join the Whites on a temporary deal, Fulham now need to offload one of their domestic loanees in order to make space for the Arsenal full-back as Premier League teams are only allowed two domestic loans at any one time.

Currently, Fulham have two domestic loanees on their books – Daniel James and Shane Duffy, and one of these two players will have to be recalled by their parent club for the Cedric deal to go ahead.

So, which player will be recalled? Well, in our view, it would make more sense if James heads back to Leeds.

The Welsh winger isn’t getting much of a game at Fulham. He’s played just 357 minutes in the Premier League so far, and after the returns of Manor Solomon and Harry Wilson from injury, he’s arguably the fifth-choice winger at Craven Cottage.

Of course, there’s a similar argument to be made about Duffy. He’s another at Fulham who is barely getting a game, but given that Fulham only have four senior centre-halves on their books right now, it may be important for them to keep Duffy around – especially as Fabrizio Romano has stated that Tosin Adarabioyo could be on his way out soon.

Therefore, James is the prime candidate to be recalled, and the ‘brilliant’ winger looks set to return to Leeds.

James would have to stay at Leeds if he is brought back as well. The speedster has already played for two clubs this season, and according to FIFA regulations, a player can’t appear for three clubs in the same campaign.

Another loan or a permanent transfer is out of the question, but the tricky attacker could be an asset for Leeds right now as they’re lacking dynamism in their frontline, and James is a real weapon off the bench.

It’s not confirmed that James will be headed back to Leeds, but it looks like a possibility.
