Leeds United have confirmed that a replacement for Marcelo Bielsa will be announced tomorrow, with Jesse Marsch the heavy favourite to take over the position.

The Whites posted on their official website in their statement about Bielsa’s departure that news on a replacement for the Argentine will be made tomorrow, with Leeds moving fast to wrap up an heir to the long-term manager.

Bielsa spent almost four years at Leeds taking the Yorkshire club back to the Premier League after 16 years away from the top-flight, with the revolutionary South American coach guiding the Elland Road side to a ninth-place finish last season.

However, this campaign has been difficult for Leeds, with injuries plaguing the club to the point where relegation to the Championship is now a possibility, hence the decision for Bielsa to walk at a crucial stage of the season.

Indeed, the move could define Leeds’ season, yet the club’s surprise announcement to give a timeframe on a new manager is a surprise, with the Guardian reporting that Marsch is set to take over at Elland Road on Monday.

The American manager has enjoyed success at the likes of the New York Red Bulls and RB Salzburg yet struggled at RB Leipzig, with Marsch being dismissed from the Bundesliga side earlier in the season.

Leeds are making a smart decision hiring Marsch at rapid pace

With the Wisconsin-born coach set to take over so soon after Bielsa’s dismissal, the decision seems to indicate that Leeds had plans all along to replace the Argentine with Marsch at some point this year.

The 48-year-old has a massive job on his hands in keeping Leeds up in the Premier League, and although Marsch failed in the Bundesliga this season with Leipzig, the American will be eager to clear his name with the Whites when he is appointed.
