Izzy Brown gave Leeds United supporters a scare as he was substituted during their latest under-23 clash.

Carlos Corberan has told Leeds’ official website that Izzy Brown was taken off during the Whites’ latest under-23 game as a precaution, but insisted that the forward’s knee is fine.

Brown gave the Leeds fans a good scare on Monday as he was taken off during the first-half of their 2-0 defeat to Barnsley at Thorp Arch.

The summer signing is yet to play for Leeds since joining on loan in the summer having arrived towards the end of his recovery from a long-term injury. He now has a handful of under-23 appearances under his belt and must be close to breaking into the first-team fold.

However, many Leeds fans would have feared that Brown may have suffered a significant setback during the defeat to the Tykes when he was replaced before the break.

But Corberan has insisted that there is nothing to worry about regarding the youngster’s fitness.

“Izzy Brown was withdrawn as a precaution,” he told the club’s official website.

“He felt his hamstring was a little bit tight and we didn’t want to take any risks. His knee is fine.”

Marcelo Bielsa the head coach

With the Yorkshire Evening Post reporting that Samuel Saiz looks to be on his way out of the club in January, Brown making up for lost time when he does make his first-team bow has become all the more important.

The 21-year-old has the quality to make a real difference to a Leeds side currently flying high at the top of the Championship, so it will surely be a major relief to Marcelo Bielsa that he does not appear to have suffered a setback.
