Even outside the transfer window, Leeds United’s Victor Orta says the club is working on a deal.

Leeds United sporting director Victor Orta has revealed the club are working on a big surprise signing – even outside the transfer window.
He was responding to a question over whether Leeds scout players in Australia and said that while the focus was European leagues, his scouting network still watched matches from all over the world.
Orta then added, at just past the 13 minute mark: “We are near to signing a big surprise from Asia. We are watching a lot of players.”
There was no elaboration from Orta on who the player may be, which position or the type of profile the club are currently looking at.
The British transfer window is closed currently, which would indicate the player will not be playing a first team role until January at the earliest.

It could therefore be a player for the under-23 team who has a high profile in Asia, or an agreement for a first team standard player who will only link up with the squad mid-season.
Earlier this summer Leeds United appointed former Japan international Toshiya Fuijita, now 44, as their head of football development in Asia.
