Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen responds when asked if he’s pleased for international break

Leeds United have begun the new Championship season extremely well, and went into the break with an impressive 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

Thomas Christiansen has told BBC Radio Leeds that he is pleased that the international break is now ahead despite Leeds’ excellent start to the new season.

The Whites have begun the new campaign in excellent form. Leeds currently sit third in the table, having not conceded a goal in the league since the opening day, and winning their most recent game after an extremely impressive display away at Nottingham Forest.

For that reason, most Whites supporters would be forgiven for being disappointed that the international break means that it is nearly two weeks until they take on Burton in their next game.

But Christiansen has suggested that it is a positive thing for the side to have the upcoming break.

“I’m glad in the sense that I have the players, that they can recover well from this big effort that they have done in all these games,” he told BBC Radio Leeds.

“I will also have time to recover players who have some small injuries so I’m satisfied. Also, to go on this break with a victory, it’s nice and it’s good for everyone.”

Christiansen’s main challenge will surely be trying to keep as much momentum amongst the squad as some travel away with their respective national teams while others ponder around a fortnight without a competitive fixture.

But having seemingly risen to every challenge put in front of him since he arrived at Elland Road, it would certainly not be out of the question to suggest that the Dane will have a very clear idea in his mind of how to keep the positivity that has developed during the opening weeks of the season.
