The Leeds United manager appeared to rule out a move for the Huddersfield Town left-back.
Leeds United manager Thomas Christiansen has been speaking to BBC Radio Leeds about the recent report linking the Whites with a loan move for Scott Malone.
It had been reported by Club Call that Leeds were interested in a January swoop for the 26-year-old left-back, despite already having Gaetano Berardi, Vurnon Anita and loanee Cameron Borthwick-Jackson on their books, yet it seems Christiansen has no intention of strengthening that area of the field; at least for now.
Speaking to Adam Pope on Thursday afternoon, the Leeds boss said, “The players I have are the best and I don’t for the moment need anyone else.”
It was clearly a vote of confidence for the squad Christiansen and Leeds’ director of football Victor Orta impressively built over the summer, but questions do remain about their left-sided options, with fan favourite Berardi struggling in recent weeks and Borthwick-Jackson quickly slipping out of contention.
Malone would have been a smart addition, yet the fact that Leeds cannot do anything until January means Christiansen is right to distance himself from the rumour.
For now he has to focus on the players already at his disposal, motivating them to perform as they were at the start of the campaign when Leeds were flying high.
If he can do that, Leeds should put their recent disappointments behind them and move back into the automatic promotion places in the weeks ahead.
