Leeds boss praises Ronaldo Vieira’s response to being left out of the first team squad.
Leeds United midfielder Ronaldo Vieira was left out of the first team squad last night as the team drew 0-0 with Fulham.
The 19-year-old began last season as starter but has played only 29 minutes of Championship football out of a possible 270 so far under Thomas Christiansen.
Christiansen confirmed after last night’s game that Vieira is not suffering with injury, and simply was not selected – and took the decision well.
He told BBC Radio Leeds: “He’s fit, but we had a situation where I had to choose, he was the unlucky one in that game but his attitude is brilliant.
“Always when I have to take one of those decisions it hurts.”
Former club captain Liam Bridcutt has been omitted in similar circumstances this season with Leeds spoiled for choice in midfield.
Summer signing Mateusz Klich is still waiting for his call, with Christiansen favouring Eunan O’Kane and Kalvin Phillips in the middle.
Leeds have been tough to beat so far but their lack of goals at home in their last two games indicates improvement is required.
Perhaps Ronaldo Vieira deserves a closer look.
