Leeds United have brought in no new defenders as of yet.

Thomas Christiansen has confirmed to TV Yorkshire that Leeds United are working on bringing defenders into the club this summer.

Leeds are expected to wrap up the signing of attacking midfielder Samu Saiz this morning, after agreeing a deal with Huesca for him.

The Whites have also completed the signing of striker Caleb Ekuban recently but Christiansen and Director of Football Victor Orta have not signed a lot of defensive players.

Vurnon Anita is the only one of six new faces at Elland Road who could potentially play in defence, though he is naturally a midfielder and fans have been wondering about the prospect of signing defenders recently.

Nevertheless, Christiansen, when asked about signing defenders, confirmed that he and Orta have a number of targets in that regard.

“We have some names that we’re working on, together with Victor. We’re trying to sign players who we believe can help the team,” he told TV Yorkshire.

Leeds should certainly focus on defenders now, having lost left-back Charlie Taylor and it looks likely that they will not re-sign Kyle Bartley either.

Plenty of names have been linked – including a double deal for Wolves duo Matt Doherty and Danny Batth – but it remains to be seen who United get.
