Leeds United manager Garry Monk has said he is expecting a response from their mid-week loss when they take on Barnsley this weekend.

The tide has been turning at Elland Road over the last few weeks, with manager Garry Monk orchestrating four consecutive league victories before the mid-week loss to Bristol City.

As reported by Yorkshire Evening Post, Monk wants a big reaction from his side when they host fellow Yorkshire side Barnsley this weekend.

The derby game will have an extra bit of spice as both teams have experienced relatively strong starts to the season, with Monk eager to move on from their 1-0 defeat on Tuesday as quickly as possible.

“We’re competing in every game now and we have to bounce back,” Monk said. “We win and lose together and we’ve got a really important game at the weekend.

“We want that winning feeling we’ve had recently and we want to get another run going.

“We’ve shown before that we can bounce back from a disappointment before and we’ll do it again at the weekend.”

This game is the last one before the second international break of the campaign, meaning that a win is crucial to Leeds’ hopes of reigniting their momentum that they hope will lead to a push for promotion.

With such a thin line separating so many of the teams in the division, United could really make a statement if they were to seal a fifth win in six league games.
