Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa could give Tyler Roberts the nod to start again on Friday evening.

Manager Marcelo Bielsa of Leeds United looks on during the FA Cup Third Round match between Queens Park Rangers and Leeds United at Loftus Road on January 6, 2019 in London, United Kingdom.

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has admitted to the Yorkshire Evening Post that Tyler Roberts did not have the same impact as Pablo Hernandez on his side’s attacking play against Queens Park Rangers.

Roberts was selected to start for Leeds in a number 10 role at Loftus Road, and he almost got on the scoresheet during the contest.

Leeds went on to lost 2-1 in the FA Cup, and although Roberts’ passing wasn’t as dynamic as Hernandez’s, Bielsa was still encouraged by the Welsh international’s performance.

He said: “He had three chances to score, so it is very good for a number 10.

“Then in the building of the offensive play, he did not have the same impact. But he was an influence because he was involved in three chances to score.

“Pablo builds the attacks. Tyler is more focused on finishing the attacks.”

Roberts could now be forced to start again for Leeds in the league tomorrow evening, with the YEP saying he will be selected if Hernandez does not make it.

Hernandez is struggling for fitness, and looks likely to still be on the treatment table tomorrow evening.

Leeds are due to host Derby County on Friday, as they look to get back to winning ways.

Leeds have lost their last three games on the bounce, but a win against Frank Lampard’s side would significantly strengthen their promotion chances.
