Leeds United head coach Garry Monk has taken to Twitter after bumping into Whites legend Johnny Giles on the club’s pre-season tour of Ireland.
Monk’s men are due to face another of the former midfielder’s old clubs in Shamrock Rovers on Saturday.
And after his meeting with two time First Division winner Giles, the former Swansea boss revealed how he was passed on some words of wisdom.
“It was a pleasure to meet Leeds United legend Johnny Giles and listen to his valuable advice on this great club,” Monk posted on Twitter, along with a photo of the pair engaged in conversation.
Giles arrived at Elland Road from Manchester United in 1963 and made just shy of 400 appearances for Leeds in a highly successful 12-year spell.

Throughout that time, the 75-year-old won one Second Division title, one League Cup, one FA Cup, one Charity Shield, two Inter-Cities Fairs Cups, and two First Divisions.
After leaving West Yorkshire, Giles moved to West Bromwich Albion and ended his career in at Shamrock Rovers in his native Dublin, via a brief spell in America.
He also player-managed both clubs, as well as the Republic of Ireland national team, before returning to The Hawthorns as full-time boss in 1984.
