Garry Monk has suggested that he is hopeful that the injury that Chris Wood sustained in Leeds United’s victory over Reading will not be serious but admitted that they do not know for certain how severe it is, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports.
The Whites enjoyed an incredibly valuable victory over their play-off rivals at Elland Road to move back up to fifth in the Championship.

However, the win was somewhat soured by the New Zealander having to be taken off shortly after the half-hour mark due to injury. And after the game, Monk confirmed that there was a problem with his hamstring before offering an initial reaction to the setback.
“It’s a hamstring tightness. We won’t know for 24 hours but we’re hoping it’s nothing serious,” he said, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“It didn’t look like a bad one from where I was standing but we’ll have to wait until he gets assessed. We don’t want to lose Woody. He’s been integral to what we’ve been doing.”

Monk will be desperately hoping that the 25-year-old’s injury is not too serious. Wood has shown just how important he is to Leeds this season with 14 goals coming in all competitions, including the opener against the Royals.
And while he has received more opportunities up front than anyone else, it is difficult to imagine that any of the other forwards within the squad would have been quite as ruthless had they played as many games, so it would hardly be a surprise if some supporters felt that their hopes of kicking on during the Christmas period largely depend on how long he is set to be sidelined for.
